About Seward Alaska

The small coastal town of Seward Alaska, the gateway to Kenai Fjords National Park, is the perfect base from which to launch your exploration of the Kenai Peninsula. Seward is about 125 miles south of Anchorage on Alaska’s Kenai Peninsula. You can make the drive in about 3 hours. The community has a population of over 3000 year round residents and many more during the summer months. If you’re interested in outdoor activities and adventure you’ll never run out of fun things to do in Seward. Hiking, sea kayaking, sport fishing, boat tours and cruises, flight seeing, sailing, scuba diving, glacier cruises, wildlife viewing… and that’s just in the summertime. Seward Alaska is the seventh most lucrative fisheries port in the United States per value so you know this is a great place to do some fishing. Monster halibut weighing over 300 pounds are caught each year in nearby waters, and every year in the middle of August the town hosts the ever popular Seward Silver Salmon Derby. Day cruises into Kenai Fjords National Park are a very popular choice. The amazing tidewater glaciers and plentiful marine wildlife make this an unforgettable Alaska. And no visit to Seward is complete without a stop at the Alaska SeaLife Center. Seward is famous for its Fourth of July festivities including a foot race to the summit of 3000 foot high Mt. Marathon. There’s plenty to do in the winter months as well including cross-country skiing, snow machine adventures and more.
